SAM could not determine time step in weather file was created by anggitaheatubun
Hi,
I am using SAM 2020.2.29 and try to make weather data by following the format in the existing solar resources library. When I check the file in macro, it said that "could not determine time step in weather file". How can I fix this problem?
Here I copied some row of my file.
Source,Location ID,City,State,Country,Latitude,Longitude,Time Zone,Elevation,Local Time Zone,Dew Point Units,DHI Units,DNI Units,GHI Units
NSRDB,78208,-,-,-,37.612.011,126.997.690,9,358,9,c,w/m2,w/m2,w/m2
Year,Month,Day,Hour,Minute,Dew Point,DHI,DNI,GHI,Pressure,Temperature,Wind Direction,Wind Speed,
2018,1,1,0,30,-7,0,0.314,0,1015.4,-3.2,110,0.5,
2018,1,1,1,30,-6.4,0,0.219,0,1015.5,-4,290,1,
2018,1,1,2,30,-5.9,0,0.217,0,1015.5,-4.2,290,1.1,
Apologies if I've missed something simple but would appreciate for your help.
Thanks.
Anggita

Hi Anggita,
Please see the "Weather File Formats" topic in SAM's Help system, and make sure your file meets the requirements described there.
If you continue to have trouble, please attach a copy of your .csv weather file, and I'll see if I can find the problem.
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Anggita,
There are a few problems with your weather file:
The file should contain one year of data, starting January 1, Hour 0 and ending December 31, Hour 23. Your file contains data for 1.5 years, starting 1/1/2018 Hour 0 and ending 6/30/23 Hour 23. You will need to truncate the data for it to work with SAM. That should fix the "could not determine time step" issue.
The GHI data appears to be shifted. For example, on January 1 the GHI data seems to indicate the sun rose around 4 am and set around 2 pm.
The DNI is not zero at night. For example, in the first hour which is in the middle of the night, DNI = 0.314 W/m2.
The DHI data does not seem to be correct: It is zero for most of January, and has a maximum value of 2,437 W/m2.
Best regards,
Paul.
