Wind speed measurements at only 10 m height was created by isabel.espana.boronar
Hello everybody,
I want to do a wind study in order to get the power that can be generated in a certain localisation. I have data from measurements taken by a company working for us, but this measurements are only taken at 10 m height.
SAM does not let me to place wind turbine hub at a height that differs more than 35 m with the measurement data.
I thought about using a fluid mechanics equation, however I would like to know if there is a better way to do it. Does SAM has a method for this?
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your time taken to answer this.
Best Regards,
Isabel España Boronat

Hi Isabel,
SAM's wind power model does not have tools for adjusting the wind speed data in your weather file. You could use a method like those described here:
websites.pmc.ucsc.edu/~jnoble/wind/extrap/
Best regards,
Paul.
