SAM 2018.11.11 - Storage model bug? was created by Gabriel Susca-Lopata
I am currently modeling a solar and AC-coupled storage system in SAM 2018.11.11. When I use the battery-inverter conversion efficiency of 98% proposed for my project, the simulation shows more total AC energy generated vs simulating with only the solar component; and in the summary graphs shows a "negative" 4% "AC connected battery loss". I noticed that to get a net positive "AC connected battery loss", I have to enter battery-inverter conversion efficiencies around ~80%. Could there be a bug in the storage model with the current version of SAM that I'm using?

Hi Gabriel,

Did you change any other battery model parameters from their default values? The total AC output of a PV system should be more than the output of the same system connected to a battery because of electrical losses from the battery.

Would you mind sharing your .sam file so I can investigate?

Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Was this resolved?
Thanks,
Rob
