Central tower receiver analysis without financial information

The GUI for SAM is much better than DELSOL3, especially when entering the heliostat field positions. Is there a way to operate SAM for a central tower without the financial analysis?

I need to check a system being designed by a research firm to see if their values are correct, specifically the heat flux on a cavity receiver. The design of the tower is likely to change since it is part of research, but the heliostat field will remain constant. Because of that, I would like to run simulations with different receivers.

Essentially, if I could, I would use SAM for the heat flux analysis of the heliostat field on the receiver tower without having to input money concerns. Is this possible, or should I go to DELSOL3?

Hello,

You can specify your own heliostat field layout on the Solar Field page, and then run SAM to generate a flux map. SAM uses DELSOL to calculate the flux map, so that should accomplish what you want.

There is a discussion of how to find the flux map files here:

Best regards,
Paul.
