System Design step was created by Liquet
Hello team,
I am planing to use SAM to model and design my future PV projects and I am playing with this tool to be familiar with. By looking into the "system design" step under Photovoltaic (detailed), I notice that, under electrical configuration, that string Voc and Vmp values (V) are only at reference condition (25C); however, we know that these values will be different depending on the min and max temperature condition at any specific location. Question, is this something we need to take care by calculating manually? also why the weather data don't show these min and max temperature values?
Thanks,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
The information you see on the System Design page are system parameters under design conditions. These values determine the system's nominal or nameplate capacity.
The Location and Resource page shows values calculated from the data in the weather file. That information describes the ambient conditions at the project site.
When you run a simulation, SAM calculates the system's performance parameters for each time step (hourly by default) over one year. Those parameters include the module operating voltage and temperature. You can see that information on the Results page, for example on the Time Series or Data Tables tabs.
Best regards,
Paul.
