TES charging vs. Power block priority was created by mikroulis
Hello Paul

I 'm modeling a CSP parabolic trough plant with ORC power cycle through the empirical model. I have a problem adjusting the TES dispatch schedule. I have thoroughly read your article about thermal dispatch control. The problem is that the TES system is being charged before the turbine reaches it's nominal power output. What happens is that as long as the solar field has a thermal output in the early morning, first the TES system is being charged to it's nameplate capacity and then the power block starts to receive thermal energy from the solar field.
I have tried to change the w/solar value from 1 to 0 for these morning hours but it doesn't solve the problem.
Normally, the TES system should be charged as long as the power block has reached it's nominal power and we have excess of energy.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
