Dear Paul,
I'm conducting a study comparing Parabolic Trough and Linear Fresnel (Molten Salt) technologies performance in Brazil.
I've been analysing the costs and noticed that Balance of Plant for PT is 120$/m² whereas the LFR is 340$/m².
As far as I know the balance of plant is linked to the sensor and operation of the power cycle.
Since both technologies  work with Rankine Cycle shouldn't this valeu be the same?
Or the molten salt used in the Fresnel makes the balance more expensive?
Would you have any reference on that?
Thanks a lot!
Best Regards,
Rodrigo Milani

Hi Rodrigo,

Please see the "Parabolic Trough Collector Cost Update for the System Advisor Model (SAM)" listed on the SAM CSP Cost Data page for a discussion of trough and linear Fresnel system costs:

Best regards,
Paul.
