Heat Losses Coefficients was created by sebastian
Hi,

I´ve seen recently in a 2009 NREL publication " Heat Loss Testing of Schott´s 2008 PTR70 Parabolic Trough Receiver" the posibility to change the heat loss coefficients in the SAM simulation, which afected in a 5% the total production of the plant an a 5% discount on the LCOE.

I would be very interested in knowing if this is possible in the new version of SAM 2012.5.11

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best Regards

SAM 2012.5.11 includes two options for modeling parabolic trough systems. The physical trough model uses thermodynamic equations to model the system, while the empirical trough model uses a set of empirically derived equations.

I think you can use the heat loss coefficients on the empirical model's SCA/HCE page to investigate the relationship between the coefficients and annual production.

Best regards,
Paul.
