RE Calculating convective losses for external and cavity recievers in SAM.
does SAM implement the Kistler formalism as described in the manual for DelSol?
are there any improved formalisms ( implemented or not in SAM )?
Does SAM implement a new formalism? in the latter case, could you please send it or post it?
Thanks

For a discussion of the power tower model, please see:
Wagner, M. (M.S. 2008). "Simulation and Predictive Performance Modeling of Utility-Scale Central Receiver System Power Plants." University of Wisconsin-Madison. ( PDF 32.3 MB )
You can also study the algorithms in the source code files, which are listed in SAM's help system in the Overview topic for each model. For example, the "Tower Molten Salt Overview" topic lists the tower and receiver source code file as sam_mw_pt_Type222.f90. The source code files are in the SAM installation folder, which by default in Windows for SAM 2012.5.11 is c:\exelib\trnsys\source.
Best regards,
Paul.
