1.Can SAM model unreliable grid. If yes how?
2. what assumptions do I need to do for me to model off-grid PV system in SAM

Hello,

SAM does not have explicit inputs for modeling an unreliable grid. SAM assumes that the system can always deliver power to the grid, but you could use the "Availability and Curtailment" inputs to model grid outages as periods when the system output is curtailed.

SAM does not model off-grid systems.

Best regards,
Paul.

Ok. I understand that SAM does not model off-grid systems, but if the battery bank is great enough for not need to import from grid, why always there is a little value for energy from grid, no matter how great is the size of batteries?

Thanks in advance for helping to interpret this kind of results.

Dear Javier,

The inverter nighttime consumption may be responsible for that small amount of grid power. You can verify that using the "Inverter night time loss" variable.

Paul.

I think so, but this night consumption couldn't be covered from the bank of batteries (In SAM), seeking the goal of reducing to zero the imports from grid?
Thank you Paul.
