Average DNI (irradiation) was created by sebastian
Hi all,

I´m actually very interested in knowing how SAM does the average DNI of a climate file. This is because I have several reports of hourly data irradiation (8760 datas) and I would like to do the average by my self. I don´t know if it is done stadistically (percentil, by gauss..etc) or arithmetically.

I appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.

SAM's performance models run hourly (and in some cases sub-hourly) simulations, so they use the hourly data from the weather file, not averages.

The annual values of direct normal and global horizontal radiation on the Climate page are the sums of the hourly values.

Best regards,
Paul.

Ok thanks Paul,

But is there any possibility that SAM could provide me that average DNI per months and annual, (as an output), using a climate weather file that I have created and copied to my project??

Thanks a lot for your help!!

Please try the Weather Data Viewer: on the Climate page, click View Hourly Data. The Monthly Profile tab in the viewer shows daily profiles by month for each of the elements in the weather file, including the DNI.

Also, after running simulations, the "Monthly Data" values in data tables and graphs include monthly totals of some values, including the total radiation incident on the collectors.

Best regards,
Paul.
