Recently I got a question on Field Optical Efficiency when I worked on Molten-Salt Tower. As shown in the attached graph, the columns are total incident thermal energy, thermal energy on receiver, and solar field optical efficiency, respectively. As described in your previous post and Mr. Wanger’s thesis, the thermal energy on receiver
total incident thermal energy) * (solar field optical efficiency). So, if we take the line in blue color for example, the thermal energy on receiver should be: =33.4471*0.63237=21.15MWh. It is not equal to the number in circle, as shown in the graph. Moreover, it seems a little strange to me that the calculated number is smaller.
I checked your previous post on optical efficiency. Unfortunately, I am still confused. Hope you could give me some advices on this topic. Your help are highly appreciated.
