Disable Excess Generation was created by gurdsam
I'm playing with a grid disconnected application where electricity either comes from PV, battery or generator.
How can I disable excess generation being sold back to the utility?
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Dear Bill,
SAM assumes that the system is grid-connected, so it will always send PV generation in excess of the load to the grid. You can remove the effect of that PV-to-grid power on the electricity bill calculation by choosing one of the "Monthly Accounting of Excess Generation" options on the Electricity Rates page that involves a sell rate, and then setting the sell rate to zero.
SAM cannot model a hybrid power system that combines PV, battery, and generator. You can use a model like RETScreen or HOMER for that kind of system.
Best regards,
Paul.
