I wnated to use the user defined variables in SAM, but I am not able to do so and conclude anything.I wanted to check the variation in total energy with some variation in DNI for CSP projects.I put some value of DNI in user defined section and did sensitivity analysis , but I could not conclude anything. Can anyone help me in detail for use of user defined variables and its limitations.

The user-defined variables are only active with Excel Exchange or when you are working with custom TRNSYS input decks. See the Help topic Simulation Options, User Variables for details.
Unfortunately, there is not a simple way to vary the weather file data values for a sensitivity analysis on variables like DNI.
Best regards,
Paul.
