Problems with using custom weather data was created by ssgouridis
Hello,

I would like to use SAM with custom weather data.

To do so, I have first copied a sample CSV file from the library.

When I use the copied file unedited, the simulation proceeds normally.

When I open the file with Excel and save it as a CSV even though I have not done any other change (i.e. the data are exactly the same) the simulation fails. I also tried another software - Open Tables but with the same results.

The error issued reads:
exec fail(Physical Trough): latitude and longitude required but not specified
Simulation tcstrough_physical failed.
SSC requires input ‘gen’, but was not found in the SAM UI or from previous simulations
Simulation singleowner failed.

This must be related to some other changes that happen to the file when the editing software saves it.

Is there a proper protocol for editing the CSV weather files without creating problems in the simulation?

Thank you,

Sgouris

I may be completely on the wrong tack but perhaps when you're saving the file it isn't using a comma as the column delimiter. It might be worth doing a simple check.

Sgouris,

Please see this post about line endings in weather files. That may be causing the problem:
