Multi-MPPT inverters have been on the market for a long time now, other software supports them, when can we expect SAM to support them?

Thanks

Hello,

We are planning changes to the user interface and underlying code to support inverters with multiple MPPT inputs, and hope to release that feature as a part of SAM within the next 18 months.

In the meantime, it would be helpful to us if you could provide us with a description of the type of system you would like to model. For example, why are you using different MPPTs? Is it support an array with different string lengths, one with modules oriented in different directions, with different types of modules, or for a different reason? How many different MPPTs would you like SAM to support?

Best regards,
Paul.

It's usually having strings of different lengths on the same inverter. Maybe I only need an odd number of modules, so 12 on one string and 11 on another. Or different azimuths, 8 modules on a string facing south and 10 on a string facing west.

As of Version 2018.11.11, SAM can model inverters with up to four MPPT inputs, and each subarray has its own "modules per string" input so the array can have up to four different string lengths.

See the release notes for a full list of new features.

Best regards,
Paul.
