Battery Storage Inverter in the PV Model

Dear SAM Support Team,

I'm using the Photvoltaic (detailed)-Residential (distributed) model in SAM 2016. My question is about the battery inverter in the model. Since the Battery storage is AC coupled in SAM 2016, is the selected PV inverter intended for the battery storage as some sort of hybrid inverter? Or the battery inverter is assumed to be included in the battery storage unit?

Most of the inverters options are not hybrid invertes. Should I input two inverters in the system design to account for the PV and battery inverters?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

For an AC-coupled battery, SAM assumes that there is separate hardware to convert the battery power from DC to AC from the PV inverter. You provide the conversion efficiency for the battery converter on the battery storage input page under "Power Converters."

Best regards,
Paul.
