Biomass Transportation Cost was created by hoseinihh
Hi,
I was wondering where I should enter the transportation and harvest cost for biomass in SAM. If I divide these costs by total capacity, I would get cost per kW. Are these costs part of the variable operating costs? And, if yes, how can I convert this kW number to kWh?
Thanks

Hello,
You can specify the feedstock transportation cost on the Feedstock Costs input page. The Distance-fixed delivery cost in $/dry ton and Distance-variable delivery cost in $/dry ton per mile inputs are intended for transportation costs. If you use those inputs, then you should not include the transportation cost in the feedstock price for each feedstock in $/dry ton.
I would probably include the harvest cost in the feedstock price.
You can enter annual operating costs in $/year, $/kW-yr, and $/MWh-yr on the System Costs page.
Best regards,
Paul.
