Downloaded Wind Resource Files Lead to Zero Energy Production in SAM

Hi,

For the downloadable wind resource files from the Wind Toolkit in SAM, the simulation will always lead to zero energy production for some regions.

Let's take, for example: lat 35.98 lon 101.75, lat 39.74 lon 104.99 or lat 35 lon 101, which are all located in the upper region of Texas just north of Amarillo, will lead to zero energy production in simulations.

However, just south of that, at a random lat 31.29 lon 100.72, which is still in Texas, will lead to proper values.

Upon inspection by opening the srw file with notepad, the pressure values in the faulty areas seem to be zero while other variables like speed and so remains the same.

Is this an issue, or am I doing something incorrectly?

Hello,

There is a problem with the data for 2012. As a workaround for now, you can choose a different year to download a complete weather file.

The WIND Toolkit team is still working to resolve this issue. I will post more here when I learn more.

Best regards,
Paul.
