Bug report: Description not saved in rate file was created by pmanson
I'm using SAM 2016.3.14 on Mac, in a Photovoltaic (Detailed) Commercial project.
When I enter text in the Description field under Electricity Rates and save the rate to a file, the ur_description field in the .csv file is not updated.
Thanks.

Hello,
When you save rate data to a CSV file, SAM does not save all of the information in the "Description" or "Applicability" boxes because that is informational data that SAM does not use in rate calculations. I agree that it may be useful to include those fields in the CSV file and will add that to our To Do list for the next version of SAM.
Thank you for the feedback.
Best regards,
Paul.

Just wanted to add onto this. I have a file with 8 different cases, each with a slightly different tariff. I update the description and then save the tariff file, at which point the description box updates to the description from the first case open. Let me know if you need any more details. I am using SAM 2016.3.14 on PC in a Residential (PV Watts) project.
Hope that helps and thanks for starting the thread pmanson.

Hello all,
It turns out that the problem is that SAM cannot save the multi-line data in the Description field to a CSV file. We'll fix that for the next version. For now, if there is information from the Description field that you want to save to the CSV file, you can put it in the Name, Schedule, or Source field.
Best regards,
Paul.

Thanks, Paul. As a workaround, I'm putting the description in a Note where it's more readable (but kept in the project) and also in the Source field so it goes with the Rate file. The workaround is OK for now but I'm sure more people will do what I did and type in a bunch of descriptive text and then lose it when they save and reload the rate file. Looking forward to being able to put it in the Description field.
