Changing Collector type - influence on cost was created by jo1565
Hi,
I don't understand very well the link between the collector technology and the cost ?
For a solar multiple chosen, depending on the collector, the cost will be influenced only by the area needed.
This is strange, because I presume all the collector don't have the same cost ?
I wanted to know which collector type would give me the lower LCOE, is it possible to do simulations to know that?
Thank you,
Best regards
Joan

For the physical trough model (and other CSP models), some of the cost categories on the System Costs page are in $/m2. For example, for the parabolic trough models, the Site Improvements, Solar Field, and HTF System cost categories are in $/m2 of solar field aperture area shown on the Solar Field page.
If you change the collector type on the Collectors page, SAM does not change any $/m2 cost values. You have to change the cost values to ones appropriate for the type of collector in your system.
In general, you should be sure to change all of the costs on the Costs page to values that are appropriate for the components in your system.
Best regards,
Paul.
