Cannot open SAM on OS X El Capitan was created by Mark Burger
Hello, I have downloaded SAM onto my Mac which has El Capitan. When I double click to open, I get a "There is no application set to open the document" message whether I try to open from the HD, applications or download. Please advise and thanks.

Dear Mark,
Did you try opening the file from the Finder instead of double-clicking it? If you try the Finder: Start Finder, then control-click the SAM installation file (.dmg file, or disk image), and click Open in the shortcut menu.
I'm in the process of upgrading my OS X operating system to El Capitan to do some testing myself and will let you know if I discover any problems.
Best regards,
Paul.

Yes I did, and got the same "There is no application set to open the document" message. I have had this problem with a few other products since I upgraded to El Cap. You might want to keep an older OS X version handy.
Thanks
Mark

I, too, am having this issue.
I get the exact same message and when I do a search of the app store there is nothing available.....
I'd love to be able to open this program and start to use it.
Help!
Saludos,
Frank

Hi all,
I finally upgraded my OS X version to El Capitan 10.11.5, and was able to install and run the latest version of SAM, so I don't think there is a problem with SAM causing it not to run.
From your description of the problem, it sounds like OS X on your computers may not be configured to open .dmg with the correct application. To see if that is the case, open a Finder window, and click the sam-osx-2016-3-14-r1.dmg file, and then in the Finder menu, click the File menu and choose "Get Info". Toward the bottom of the Get Info window, you should see "Open with." The correct application for opening .dmg files should be DiskImageMounter. If you see something different, you should be able to fix the problem by following the instructions here:

Please let me know whether that fixes the problem.
Best regards,
Paul.
