Hi All

I ma going to model concentrated solar thermal power plant. It has 5 heliostat fields, each has one receiver and 700 mirror (In total we have 3500 mirrors0.

I could not find any option to put the number of heliostat fields, it just considers that there is one central receiver which is not our case. We have 5 heliostat fields, and 5 receivers.

Any help really appreciated.

Kind regards
Saeid

Dear Saeid,

One approach to modeling your system would be to create a separate case for each reciever/field, and then use the combine cases macro to combine the cases into a single project.

To find the combine cases macro, click the Macros button at the bottom left corner of the SAM window, and then click "Combine Cases" in the list of macros. The macro includes instructions for how to use it, but please let me know if you have questions.

UPDATE: As of SAM 2021.12.02, the Combine Cases macro is replaced by the Calculate generation profiles and namelpate capacity from open cases option on the Power Plant page for the Generic System model and Generic Battery model. See the SAM YouTube channel for a short tutorial .

Best regards,
Paul.
