I am interested in using SAM 2016.3.14 to model the system described in Price (2003) "A Parabolic Trough Solar Power Plant Simulation Model" listed on the
Performance Model Documentation
page. The paper mentions the project site of Kramer Junction, California, but I do not see that location in SAM' solar resource library. What weather file should I use for that analysis? Can you send me a .sam file for the study described in that paper?
Kramer Junction is near Daggett, California. You can use the Daggett TMY2 weather file to replicate that analysis. SAM's empirical trough model is a version of the model Henry Price developed for his empirical analysis of the SEGS systems, so you should use that model in SAM for this kind of study. You should be able to use the data shown in the paper as inputs to SAM's empirical parabolic trough model. In fact, many of the default vaues for that model should be the same as those in the paper.
