Wind resource files and shear coefficient was created by Michael Russo
Hello! I have a question about what value of hub height and shear coefficient to use. All my data in the SRW file I am using in SAM is at the height of 10m. But when I want to use the 10m height for my turbine hub it says that the turbine hub height is more than 35m shorter than the measured resource data, which is not true because in the file I specifically said that every variable is at 10m. So the question now is what do I do? Use a hub height of 45m so that the error goes away? and what about the shear coefficient? According to the equation used in the model "vhub = vdata * (hhub / hdata)^a" my shear coefficient should be 0, because my data is all measured at the same height as the wind turbine (10m).. I am truly confused. Can someone help me with this?

Dear Michael,
SAM generates that message when the difference between the turbine hub height input on the wind turbine page and the measurement height indicated in the weather file is more than 35 meters.
Would you mind emailing me a copy of both your .sam file and .srw file so that I can investigate?
Best regards,
Paul.

The issue here is that when you use the "Use a wind resource file stored on your computer" option on the Wind Resource page to specify a wind resource file, SAM uses the wind measurement height from the current file in the wind resource library instead of in the file you specify. This issue has been fixed in SAM 2016.3.14 Revision 2.
Best regards,
Paul.
