Very good Morning.Hope you had a nice weekend.

This sort of query was raised earlier by Mr.Suzuki Koichi on 2013-10-01 and your subsequent replies on 2013-10-03 & 2013-10-08, but I still have doubts/my understanding is not complete.So I have requested for the zsam file of Mr.Koichi and the excel spread sheet you were referring to as a reply to that post.

I am very much aware that you would be very busy with your daily scheduled tasks,however if you kindly spare some time to clarify my below queries(although I read several posts in the forum,I am still unclear with the basics and hence the elaborative present post),it would be very very helpful for me to proceed further for which I would be grateful.Kindly do the needful.

I am trying to understand several parameters of the "sam_case_csp_physical_trough_andasol-1_2013-1-15.zsam file of Andasol".

From graphs and results viewer/tables/single values :

1) Aux.Fuel Consumption(MMBtu),annual = 214935 i.e.214935/3.413 = 62975.4 MWh(thermal)

2) dumped thermal energy,annual(approximately) = 20250.6 MWh (thermal), this amount of energy is dumped annually from the storage system and is attributed due to excessive solar irradiation.The value 20250.6 MWh is due to Thermal Energy From Solar Field + energy supplied due to supplemental fossil fill. Am I correct ??

3) Net/Gross electric output,annual = 0.938985,which is not inline with estimated gross/net conversion factor of 0.9 in power cycle page,correct me if I am wrong.

4) Total Incident Solar Radiation(MWh)annual = Total Incident Thermal Energy(MWh)annual = 1.03723e+6

5) solar field thermal o/p,annually = 482376 MWh , I understood that this value is arrived by multiply (4) with solar collector efficiency , i.e. collector efficiency = 46.51% , am I correct ?

6) Thermal Energy From Solar Field (MWh),annual = Thermal Energy absorbed by HTF(MWh),annual = 504650 , i.e. sl.no (5) + thermal capacitance of HTF , therefore thermal capacitance of HTF = 504650-482376 = 22274 MWh which is equal to m*Cp of HTF * Delta T ; i.e mass flow rate of HTF = ((22274*1e+3 kWh)*3600 sec)/(2.455 kJ/kg.K*(393-293)K)= 326.625e+6 kg/annum, am I correct?

7)Thermal Energy to Power Block(MWh),annual = 522937 , the difference i.e. (522937-504650)=18287 MWh , is attributed due to supplemental fossil friction fill or due to (supplemental fossil friction fill + thermal energy storage) ???? In either cases how should the value of 18287 MWh be calculated?

8) In "sam_case_csp_physical_trough_andasol-1_2013-1-15.pdf" it has been mentioned that approximately 12% of energy requirements shall be catered by fossil fraction,which implies sl.no (1) i.e. Aux.Fuel Consumption(MMBtu),annual = 62975.4 MWh(thermal).The remaining 88% (i.e. 461819.6 MWh) shall be addressed by solar field i.e. total thermal energy for power block shall be = 461819.6 + 62975.4 = 524795 MWh,am I correct ?

9) From the loss diagram as attached it has been indicated that energy to power block = 541224 MWh(thermal) , could not understand how this value is obtained ?? please clarify.

What is the difference between the values 522937 and 541224 MWh(thermal) as both of them refer to Thermal Energy to Power Block(MWh),annual. Also the difference 541224-522397 = 18287 MWh.Please clarify.

Am very much confused especially with 6,7,8,9 and kindly clarify so that I get the basics right and can proceed further.
