CEC PV module database update was created by kdagley
Where can I get a current CEC PV module database? There are some modules on the gosolarcalifornia site that are not yet available in SAM. I could just add the ones I need to the module library but I can't find the data anywhere.
Thank you for a great program!

First, please be sure to update your version of SAM 2011.12.2. The update includes a new CEC module library. Update instructions are at:
sam.nrel.gov/content/updates-sam-2011122
I am not aware that the CEC makes available a publicly accessible version of the database. The database is part of the CECPV Calculator, but appears to be stored in a proprietary file format:
www.gosolarcalifornia.org/tools/nshpcalculator/index.php
Could you give me an example of a module you could not find in the SAM CEC library?
Best regards,
Paul.

I am using the updated 2011.12.2 but I believe it only has the CEC PV data as of Nov 2011.
I think 500 panels were added/updated in Dec, 300 in Jan, and 400 in Feb.
I was looking for Phono Solar Technology PS250M-20/U which is in the CEC but not on SAM.
Best,
Kelley

It would be great to see the Conergy ON series in there, we are currently installing the 245W units, but having to model systems using the 'P 235 PA' modules.
Also, is there a way to save a CEC Performance Model with User Entered Specifications? I can't seem to find a way to do this, and I don't like to have to input all of the specs for each model I create.
Thanks in advance.

This week, we improved our procedure for receiving CEC database updates from the California Energy Commission so we can do a better job of keeping SAM's CEC module library consistent with the CEC database monthly updates. After we work out the kinks in SAM's update feature, you will be able to click Help, Check for updates to see if there is a new CEC module library available. This should be working in the next release, scheduled for early May 2012.
The only way to save the parameters for the CEC Performance Model with User Entered Specifications is to save it as a case in a SAM (.zsam) file. If you want to use the module in a different analysis, you can either save a copy of the file and then modify the other inputs, or import the case containing the module into another file:
1. In File A, enter the module parameters, and save the file.
2. In File B, click File - Import Case, and open File A.
3. In the list of cases from File A, choose the case with the module you want to use.
I realize that isn't exactly what you need. I'll add a feature request to our Beta feedback list.
Best regards,
Paul.
