PV Modules and Inverters not in Database was created by piphomer
Hi Paul. Can I save and name inverters created this way, or do I need to recreate them every time I start a new model?

Hello,
There is not a way to save "user entered" specifications. To avoid having to recreate the inverter, you could start your project by opening an existing file with the inverter you want to model, and then modifying the other inputs. (Note that you can choose "Change Model" on the case menu to change the financial model of a case without changing the performance model inputs.
Please let me know how much of an inconvenience this is to you -- we could consider making it possible to save custom parameters.
Best regards,
Paul.

As of SAM version 2016.3.14 the input pages for the inverter and module options with user-entered specifications have new Save and Load buttons that allow you to save parameters to a text file to use with different SAM files.
Best regards,
Paul.

We need to also undertand that the compatibiity of various Inverters, Modules, and battery are important. Hence, a functionality needs to be built into the softwre which would see this integrations. I have used the PVSOL, and I have seen this there.
Also, regular update of database is required.

Dear Mr. Gilman,
I have a question related to the CEC performance model with user-entered specifications. In this section, how does SAM calculate the series and shunt resistors? Due to the fact that there is no input for them and as I have seen in the CEC model of SAM documents, the model needs it at least to calculate voltage of DC array output.
With the best regards,
Ali
