Help required for Data to run SAM's P50/P90 analysis was created by jayant_azure
We have been recommended the usage of the ‘SAM’ software to run the P50/P90 analysis. While trying to do this we have been facing the hurdle of the requirement of a weather database file(*.cbwfdb format) needed to run the analysis. Could you please point us in the right direction on how to get the database file required for this analysis for our site in Nagaur District in teh state of Rajasthan in India? Currently, we have the Meteonorm software giving us the solar irradiation data.
Any help and clarification in this matter would be highly appreciated.

SAM's P50/P90 analysis capability requires a set of typical year weather files for a period of many years. Each file must contain data describing both the solar resource (global, diffuse, and direct normal radiation) and meteorological conditions (ambient temperature, wind speed, etc.) at the site over the multi-year period.
We have prepared a set of files for some U.S. locations using solar resource data from the National Solar Radiation Database and meteorological data from the National Climatic Data Center. Those files are packaged in the CBWFDB file that you can download from the P50/P90 Analysis page in SAM.
We do not have similar data for other locations in the U.S. or for any locations outside of the U.S.
For India, NREL has prepared a set of typical-year data files for nine locations. For each location there is data for seven years. You could use those files to generate a set of annual electricity output estimates and other metrics over the seven year period, and perform your own statistical analysis outside of SAM.
The India solar resource files are here:

Paul.
