Change energy units to MWhs? was created by sam.ley
Hi, I've been enjoying the recent release of SAM, but had a question/feature request.
I'm working with a number of PV systems, component based Commercial typically, and at the sizes I'm working in (10MW+) the output values in kWhs are so large they get forced into scientific notation. Nothing wrong with that, really, but it would be great to be able to set my working units to MWhs for a given project or case. Is there any way to do that?

There is not a way to change units directly in the SAM interface. However there are a couple of ways you could automate the conversion of SAM results.
The first would be to export data to a spreadsheet and use the spreadsheet's number formatting and/or formulas to do the conversion. If you are careful about cutting and pasting data from SAM into the spreadsheet, you can paste data from different SAM runs and preserve the number formatting.
The second option would be to write a script using SamUL to do the conversions for you. That would involve a little effort to learn the scripting language, but may be worthwhile if you need to do the conversion for many SAM runs.
Best regards,
Paul.

Thanks, the spreadsheet method is what I've been using for now. The main benefit is just scaling the numbers so that the data labels on the graphs make sense (to the non-engineers in our group).
Thanks,
Sam

I noticed after the simulation, negative values ??of hourly electric energy in CSP, what's the problem?

Please see the forum topic
"Why are there negative values on hourly data for a CSP physical trough?"
for an explanation.

Paul.
