Molten salt model, TES level was created by rid7043
Hi,
I have a molten salt tower model and when I export the result and plot them, there are values over the maximum allowed level (I consider as allowed value the one in the System cost-storage(MWht)).
Thanks

Hello,
Can you be more specific about what you are seeing? For what hours to you see the unexpected values? How do you define "maximum allowed level?"
Best regards,
Paul.

The maximum allowed value I consider is the one in system cost/storage (that value according to the help is used to calculate the cost per thermal megawatt-hour, but I suppose that it should be the maximum value too.
To obtain the current level in the storage[MWht], I add previous thermal energy in the storage and the TES thermal energy into storage minus the TES thermal losses from tank. (This procedure gives sometimes negative values that are changed by zero)

The system's nameplate capacity is a nominal value that is used for cost calculations. The model does not use that value as a maximum limit on the system's output. The system's simulated output may exceed the nominal value under some conditions.

Which are the conditions to determine the TES level? It is influence by the ambient temperature?
Many thanks

For a description of the thermal storage model, please see Chapter four of Wagner (2011) Technical Manual for the SAM Physical Trough Model (
PDF 3.7 MB
). SAM uses the same model for the TES in the physical trough model and molten salt power tower model.

Paul.
