Thank you Paul.
I took a look at the:
"King, D.L.; Boyson, W.E.; and Kratochvil, J.A. (2004). "Photovoltaic Array Performance Model." 41 pp.; Sandia Report No. 2004-3535."
and checked the references for the Thermal Model section.
Still no information on testing conditions.
Looks like the upper chart you posted is the best explanation so far on what different mount types should represent. It's still difficult for me to make an assumption on which mount type should I choose for my pv panel integrated into a ventilated curtain wall facade, based on this information.
Can you give an email or some other NREL contact, where I would be able to ask this question further?
Thank you once again.

For the most up-to-date version of SAM's Help system, please use the version that comes with SAM.
You can find a link to a PDF version of the Help system:
sam.nrel.gov/documentation
Best regards,
Paul.

Hello Nino,
Did you get an answer to your questions? I have the same doubt. I want to simulate a PV panel (Glass/Cell/Polymer Sheet) roof mounted but with with little clearance between the building surface and module back allowing little air to flow over the module back. These option isnĀ“t available.
Please any comment is usefull.

Dear Annelore,
Which module model are you using? For the CEC model, you should be able to choose your module from the library (or choose the CEC model with user-specified parameters for a module that is not in the library), and then choose the mounting standoff distance closest to the distance between the roof and back of module that you expect.
Best regards,
Paul.

Dear Paul,
Im using the Sandia Model. This model used empirically determined coefficients (a,b, dT) to predict module back surface temperature as function of irradiance, ambient temperature and wind speed. The coefficients were found to be representative of different module types and mounting configurations. The configuration for a module type Glass/Cell/Polymer sheet close roof mount doesnt exist.
The options are:
Module type Mounted
Glass/cell/glass Open rack
Glass/cell/glass Close roof mount
Glass/cell/polymer sheet Open rack
Glass/cell/polymer sheet Insulated back
Polymer/thin-film/steel Open rack
