        Hi,
I have been trying to find documents or papers which could tell me how SAM calculates the effects of self-shading for fixed tilt arrays, and so far I have been unsuccessful. Does anybody have any info on how SAM calculates the self-shading effects and what equations/formulas it uses? Thanks in advance.

The shading topic in SAM's help system mentions the following NREL publication. The self-shading model in SAM is based on the work described in the publication:
Deline C, Partially Shaded Operation of a Grid-Tied PV System, NREL/CP-520-46001, June 2009
Best regards,
Paul.
