Dears,
I've been trying to use the stochastic simulation options in the new SAM to simulate the impact of soiling. Nevertheless, it seems that SAM is not changing the "average soiling annual soiling loss" in the simulation.
I only have 1 subarray and i'm using as stochastic parameter the Average anual Soiling 1. I've tried with different distributions and values, but in the results, the value POA soiling loss remains 5% for all simulations.
Kind Regards,
Sebastián

Dear Sebastián,
This looks like a bug that we need to investigate. If you look at the "Average annual soiling loss" input on the Losses page, you'll see that it is blue and disabled, indicating that it is a calculated value. The monthly loss values that you type in the table by clicking "Edit values" are the actual input variables that you would want to use for the stochastic analysis, but those variables are not available stochastic simulations inputs list.
We will look into this and try to resolve it for the next update.
Best regards,
Paul.

Dear Sebastián,
For the update to SAM 2014.11.24, we have fixed the issue that allowed the calculated value of the annual soiling loss to be listed as available for parametric and stochastic simulations even though it is a calculated value and not a user input. That value appears on the Losses input page to give you an indication of what the monthly soiling loss values are.
However, the soiling loss input is not available for stochastic simulations because that variable is an array of twelve values, and the stochastic simulation algorithm can only handle variables that are numbers (single value). We are considering options to make it possible to run stochastic simulations on a factor that reduces the incident irradiance for a future version of SAM.
Best regards,
Paul.

Dear Paul,
Thanks for the information. A soiling factor that is applied evenly through the year is also very useful.

Sebastián

Dears Paul,
I search a mathematical model of dust deposition, and there effect on solar radiation of panel. I do not know if this model is available, if yes please help me Paul Gilman, because I want to simulate this model in SAM, it is my Topic of Master Degree.
Dears Regards,
ROUWAY
