3D Shade Calculator

I have been experimenting with the 3D shade calculator and I do not understand the results I'm getting. I created a scene with 2 arrays on a basic residential roof at 20 degrees facing South. I am getting substantial shading from the roof and the box underneath the active area. This does not make sense to me. See attached file. I created different scenarios with the presence of different elements i.e. array, roof, box. Am I doing something wrong in the 3D scene? Thanks.

That is an issue that was supposed to be fixed in the latest update to SAM 2017.9.5 r3. We are investigating, and I will report back to you.

The problem is caused by objects under anactive surface, so as a temporary workaround, you can avoid it by not placing objects under the active surfaces.
