Dear Paul;
How SAM biomass model calculates LHV of Biomass feedstock?
Thanks in advance
Suzan

Dear Suzan,

I'm not sure which LHV value you mean. Can you tell me where you see the LHV value you are asking about?

Best regards,
Paul.

Suzan

Dear Paul
I mean that Lower heating value in the input page of the feedstock in Biomass power model (Average LHV).

Best regards
Suzan

Dear Suzan,

The "Average biomass higher heating value (HHV)" values is calculated using a set of fixed parameters that are built in to the user interface code. You can see the HHV value for a single feedstock by setting the "Resource Available" value for all other feedstocks to zero. For example, the HHV for Bagasse is 8269.13 Btu/dry-lb.

Best regards,
Paul.

Dear Paul
I know how the model calculate HHV. But I'm asking About LHV there is no information about how SAM Calculate LHV?

Hi Suzan,

Like the average HHV value, the average LHV value is calculated using a set of internal fixed parameters for each feedstock. Please see "Technical Manual for the SAM Biomass Power Generation Model" for more details about how the model works:
