New Version of SSC SDK with CSP Modules

The SAM Simulation Core (SSC) software development kit (SDK) now includes preliminary versions of the concentrating solar power (CSP) modules so that you can create models for parabolic trough, power tower, and dish Stiring systems using the SSC application programming language (API).

The SDK is available at: https://sam.nrel.gov/sdk

We just completed the conversion of the CSP modules from TRNSYS to SSC, which is SAM's native simulation platform. This conversion made it possible to include the CSP modules in the SDK. We have finished a first round of tests that show that results from the TRNSYS and SSC versions of the models are consistent, and would appreciate any feedback from your tests with the new modules.

This conversion process is part of our preparation for the next release of SAM, which will replace all of the TRNSYS modules with SSC modules and be the first version of SAM that does not use the TRNSYS simulation platform (http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/). SAM's other models (photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, biopower) have been part of SSC since SAM 2009.10.2.

Best regards,
Paul.
