Using NREL's Mexico wind data in SAM? was created by sergioc@utexas.edu
I'm trying to use wind data from your (NREL) Mexico's WKT Data Download and feed into SAM, but I'm unable to. SAM's interface won't capture locations outside continental US and the data I was able to download from NREL's Mexico Wind API comes in an incompatible csv format (while SAM requires srw file format). Do you have any recommendation on how to use NREL Mexico's wind data to extract power outputs from simulated turbines in SAM?

Hi Sergio,

The best I can suggest for now is to convert the data into the SAM SRW format. You can find a description of the file format in SAM's Help system, under "Weather File Formats" or a PDF version on the SAM website at sam.nrel.gov/weather-data/weather-data-publications.html.

Best regards,
Paul.
