Is it possible? was created by VJB
Hi !
I am a master degree student in Montreal and I am currently working on my thesis which is about the study of complete hybrid PV-Diesel power including battery storage in northern Quebec, Nunavik to reduce diesel consumption .
I heard about SAM and found out that this software is very clear and easy to use. But more I read about hybrid source, more I'm concerned.
Is there any way to simulate the PV Structure with battery storage considering that the diesel power plant will only work to fill the gap.
I could probably do the simulation of PV with battery storage individually and then combine the results with the diesel power plant..
Or if you know a software that can do this.
Thank you in advance
Valery

Hi Valery,
SAM cannot model diesel-PV-battery hybrid systems. You could use the method you describe to determine the output of the PV-battery system, and then account for the diesel generator outside of SAM.
The commercial software HOMER is well-suited to modeling hybrid power systems.
Best regards,
Paul.
