Possible Bug On System Advisor Model Report was created by burakomersaracoglu
Dear SAM users;
I have been working on a research study for a while.
I have already created some draft files Modeling SEGS by empirical model SAM 2016.3.14 sam.nrel.gov/content/modeling-segs-empirical-model-sam-2016314
I tried to create report on SAM by "Create report" "F6".
Please find the created report by SAM in the enclosed file.
The report generated the installed power as 30 kW "Parabolic Trough System 30 kW Nameplate No financial model".
The plant design is 35.0 MWe (gross) 30.0 MWe (net) (see plant characteristics on model files sam.nrel.gov/content/modeling-segs-empirical-model-sam-2016314 )
Are there any known and listed bugs on SAM?
Are there any bugs on SAM for "Create report" "F6"?
Should I use "Create report" "F6" or should I create my own simple reports from other results' pages?
Did I miss anything during model development and reporting issues that caused this problem?
Your consideration and help will be very much appreciated.
Best Regards
Burak Omer Saracoglu

Dear Burak,
Thank you for reporting this problem.
I have updated the basic report template to fix the problem. Please replace the basic.samreport file in your SAM installation with this one ( SAMREPORT 15 KB ).
The file is in the /runtime/reports folder of your SAM installation.
Best regards,
Paul.

Dear Paul;
Thank you very much to you and all of the SAM developers.
I did exactly what you had written on this support blog.
I regenerated the report.
Now I have Parabolic Trough System 29,994 kW Nameplate. I think you get the same results.
For your (all SAM developers) information:
On Power Block section
Design Gross Output (MWe)(input typed by user) (e.g. 35 in my file)
Estimated Gross to Net Conversion Factor (input typed by user) (e.g. 0.857 in my file)
Estimated Net Output at Design (MWe) (output calculated by SAM)(e.g. 30.0 in my file)
On Report section (new one)
Nameplate according to those data (e.g. 29,994 kW in current version of basic.samreport that you had uploaded to this blog)
Here in this case 30.0 MWe on the power block and nameplate 29,994 kW.
There is a difference here. 6 kW. It is because of 35*0.857=29,995 I think.
I do not know why there is a difference now (30,0 ~ 29,994 ~ 29,995). I think decimals issue. I will try to understand this difference. I will look at the documents and help manual.
May I ask to the SAM developers to reorganize this report according to the Power Block section in the next version?
It will be good and logical to see all of them on the report, I think.
For instance 30.0 MW, 30.0 MW nameplate, or 0,3 MW, 0,3 MW nameplate.
Have a nice day
All my best
Burak

Dear Burak,
The difference in values is due to rounding. SAM shows the nameplate capacity in MW with three significant digits, while the PDF report shows the value in kW with five significant digits. The two numbers represent the same value.
Best regards,
Paul.
